Forget about Christmas. October is the most wonderful time of year in Tulsa.
That’s right: October. The city comes alive, and so does everyone’s social calendar. The sweltering heat of the summer mercifully loosens its grip and we finally get to enjoy what we’ve been waiting for all year: the blissful autumn weather of sunny days and chilly nights. I kayaked at the Gathering Place, danced at a free Tank & the Bangas concert at Guthrie Green, and saw friends play music at festivals and act in a local theater production. I enjoyed the Aladdin Broadway tour, passed out candy to trick-or-treaters, and partied at Tulsa Oktoberfest, which was rated one of the best in the country (again!) by USA Today.
Every autumn I’ve experienced here has been magical, and full of fun events and unique opportunities to grow and connect with others in the community. I’ve been lucky to build a home and a comfortable life since I moved to Tulsa three years ago. Three years ago, I wouldn’t have believed it!
Now when I think Tulsa, I think Opportunity. Much of that opportunity, however, gets stuck circulating around the same social bubbles. So, let’s pop that bubble and share the wealth!
